Last week was a big week for Larry in his softball career in the Creaker league. He was inducted into the Creaker Hall of Fame (based on his contributions to the organization), and he was named to the 2015 All Star Team (based on ability). In his acceptance speech for the former, he noted that he’d been practicing his speech since he was 10 or 12 years old, though he thought it would be given a lot earlier, at Cooperstown.
In other news, there was an article in the NY Times this morning reporting on last year’s ice bucket challenge for ALS. If you remember, people pledged money for ALS and had a bucket of ice water thrown on them, a particularly charming fundraiser for this awful disease. Larry participated, and so did a number of his Creaker buddies. The initial 6-week campaign raised $115 million. It accelerated research that led to a breakthrough in possible cure not only for ALS, but for other neurological diseases. Yay for everyone!
